Back to Reality

Back from Holidays

Hi everyone! It’s been rather quiet here on My Food Trail, but I’ve got a good excuse – I was having the time of my life on an overseas holiday! I’m back in Melbourne now and unfortunately it’s back to the reality of working and responsibility (and saving up for my next holiday hehe)! I thoroughly enjoyed not having to work and living the life of a carefree tourist!

I was away for 3 weeks and visited Singapore, Taipei, Macau and Hong Kong. I think 3 weeks is a good amount of time away to feel like you’ve really had some time off, though I wish I could have gone for longer. I plan to blog about each place separately which will hopefully help some of you who are planning to visit any of these places in the near future.

I flew Singapore Airlines to Hong Kong which allowed me to stop in Singapore as part of the same ticket, and I booked a separate airfare with Cathay Pacific to fly from Hong Kong to Taipei return.

A number of people told me about Cathay Pacific holidays which apparently has good flight and accommodation deals from Hong Kong but I found that it was cheaper for me to book my airfare and hotel separately for the time I was traveling.

I spent a lot of time researching which hotels to stay at and kept a lookout for any good deals. As much as I would love to stay in a beautiful 5 star hotel, I think it’s wasteful to spend on accommodation if you have limited funds, especially if you’re not going to be in there much anyway. For me, I just need some where in a good location, clean and value for money – something mid-range. I ended up using Expedia to book my accommodation.

You can read more details about my trip here (once I blog them):

Stay tuned for more. I took around 2,300 photos so I need to put aside some time to cull them first!

Over & Out, April xx

I’ve been wanting to plan a holiday to Asia and you’ve just re-inspired me. Now to decide where to go…

The great thing about Asia is that most of it is cheap so you can’t go wrong no matter where you choose! Try to go somewhere new

Look forward to seeing your posts.

You gotta be ruthless and cull those photos as if they were black jelly beans. Get rid of them.

Coming back from holidays is always a downer, but having to face all those photos is added weight! Even if it wasn’t for blogging, you’d still want to organise them in an easy way to identify later – so much work *sigh*
