2011 Cookbook Challenge

Happy new year everyone! And with the new year comes a new Cookbook Challenge for 2011!

A lot of us loved the idea of the Cookbook Challenge, but found the weekly posting too much work. For 2011, we have decided to run it over a fortnight, so we now have 26 themes for the year instead of 52. Hopefully it means more people can keep up with the challenge.

For those of you who didn’t participate last year, here’s how the Cookbook Challenge works:
There are 26 themes over 26 fortnights. The challenge is to interpret the given theme whatever way you wish and cook a dish (or dishes) from one of your cookbooks (or magazine) related to the theme. Cooking your dish for each week starts from the date listed and you should post the results of your dish on your blog by the following Saturday before the next fortnight begins if you can. We don’t mind if you miss the deadline, just try not to get too behind! Speaking from experience, if you get too far behind, it becomes very hard to catch up!

The challenge starts from Saturday 1 January with the first theme being “Stonefruits“.

Penny is currently working on a forum site where all participants can join and post their recipe for the fortnightly themes when completed. This saves you from having to email me and me doing the round ups. I will let you know when the site is up and running, but in the meantime you can start thinking about your recipe for this fortnight. The full 26 themes will be posted on the forum site.

Many thanks again to Shellie for designing our wonderful logo!

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask. I’m looking forward to see what everyone comes up with this year!

Over & Out, April xx

Oh, this sounds like the perfect challenge for me!! I have a list a mile long of recipes to try in my various cookbooks and online foodie sites. I made a commitment to make at least 3 recipes per month, this challenge is a great way to share and hopefully meet my goal.

Great! Sign me up. Thanks for organising – the fortnightly approach should ease the pressure a little bit. Can't wait to see what wonderful dishes everyone comes up with.
