My Food Trail’s 100th blog post & a giveaway

This post marks my 100th blog post! Wow, what a journey it has been! I really never thought I would last this long (my ideas are normally short lived) but over the last 6 months, I have discovered a love of baking, been to a few foodie events, met a bunch of fabulous fellow food bloggers, eaten out probably more than I should and it was all captured here on my blog.

To this day, I am still amazed that people want to read my humble little blog with its amateur photographs, and are kind enough to leave me comments and send me touching emails. I love reading and replying to all your comments and emails. Thank you to all my readers, all my followers and all those who subscribe to my RSS feed.

I also want to thank all the wonderful people who think my blog is worthy enough to link me on their blog (in no particular order), either through their blogroll or through a specific post. Do go and visit their blog too.

If I have left you off, I’m terribly sorry! Let me know and I will add you to the list.

Salad dressing… Hmmm Let's see…
The most recent simple salad dressing I've found in Bill Granger's recipe book and really like is to mix the salad (lettuce, tomato, slices red onion) with some dried oregano and dried chilli flakes and add splash of balsamic vinegar with olive oil. YUMMO! 🙂
Make sure you mix this all in a box so that the salad are coated nicely. When I want to do a bit extra – I added the toasted pinenut too… Voila! Perfect refreshing summer salad (especially if the veges are straight from the fridge).
The best thing about this dressing is that you generally already have the ingredients in your pantry. 🙂

As for salad dressings, I'm a pretty standard oil and lemon juice girl, but Another Outspoken Female got me onto adding some shredded kaffir lime leaves a few years ago and I've never looked back!

As for my favourite salad, it would have to be one of my sisters (she makes good salads), it's a pumpkin, beetroot and walnut salad with a lovely dressing.

Whoops! I said salad, not salad dressing…
Well in that case it would have to be a simple balsamic vinegar, brown sugar, olive oil and Dijon mustard dressing. That would work well on most salads 🙂

my favourite salad dressing is grated carrot, dash of lemon juice and rice vinegar, olive oil then pinch of sugar, salt and pepper.

I normally have it with smoke salmon and rocket salad. hmm its gonna be so hot tomorrow. maybe i should have that tomw hahaha

I'd have to say i like really simple salad dressings because i like the flavour of the salad veg to shine rather than the dressing. I'm happy with 3 parts good olive oil and one part either white wine vinegar or balsamic vinegar with a tad of freshly ground sea salt and peppercorn. And i'm a little on the 'less is more' side when it comes to adding the dressing…

Nice open ending question for salad dressings! I have 2 staple dressings that are versatile for a variety of salads (which seem like they already have been mentioned). Plain balsamic vinegar or the simple olive oil/white wine vinegar or olive oil/lemon juice vinegarette seasoned with salt & pepper.

But to be healthier, I generally try to avoid dressing and add another ingredient such as sultanas, grapes or nuts.
