The Kreativ Blogger Award

I was extremely touched to receive this Kreativ Blogger Award from the lovely Stephcookie who has a wonderful food blog called Raspberri Cupcakes! I have only been blogging for 3 months and it makes my day to know that people actually want to come back and follow my food journey. Thanks Stephcookie and loyal readers!

The Kreativ Blogger award comes with some rules:

1. You must thank the person who has given you the award.
2. Copy the logo and place it on your blog.
3. Link to the person who has nominated you for the award.
4. Name 7 things about yourself that people might find interesting.
5. Nominate 7 other Kreativ Bloggers.
6. Post links to the 7 blogs you nominate.
7. Leave a comment on the blogs to let them know they have been nominated.

When I saw rule no. 4 I was like “Eeek”!! I am really bad at telling people about myself as I am rather uninteresting and am not witty enough to think of things to say! But well, rules are rules, so below are 7 (uninteresting) random facts I have not yet revealed about myself.

1. I was born in Singapore, but migrated to Melbourne when I was 4 years old and have been here ever since. I sound like an Aussie, but can talk like a Singaporean due to my mum’s accent and having lots of Singaporean/Malaysian friends in Uni.

2. I only speak English despite my parents being able to speak about 4 other Asian languages. I can understand a bit of each, but only the real basics. When I was in my teens, my dad played a cassette with me speaking perfect Mandarin as a 3 year old. I didn’t believe it was me!!

I grew up in schools where I was the only Chinese person (or one of a few) and I found it embarrassing so I shunned everything Chinese and rebelled at Saturday Chinese classes! Now I am an adult, I embrace everything about my culture and regret not knowing another language. Yes, I can learn now but the “Learn Chinese in a week” boxset I bought from Borders is still sitting in my cupboard after 2 years. Maybe one day! 🙂

3. One of my favourite foods used to be potato (probably explains why I look like a potato now!!). It has only been in the last couple of years that I have been expanding my food horizons and trying new things.

4. I dislike beanshoots and will sit there and pick out 99% of the beanshoots if it is in my noodle dish. If I know a dish includes it, I will always ask to leave them out.

5. I have to force myself to eat vegetables. If vegetables had no health benefits, they would only be used for decoration.

6. I don’t drink coffee and never have. I have tried but for some reason I don’t like the taste.

7. I can happily listen to a song on repeat for the whole day if I really like it. Normally it only lasts about 4 times before hubby turns it off!

The 7 people I nominate in no particular order are:
Maria from the Gourmet Challenge
Kat from spatulaspoonandsaturday
Agnes from Off the Spork
Shellie from Iron Chef Shellie
Belle from Ooh, Look…
Conor from Hold the Beef
Arale79 from Meals on Budget

Over & Out, Rilsta xx

Aww you're very welcome, keep up the yummy posts 🙂 Hehe I only speak English too! I call myself a fake Asian 😀

Thanks so much for the nomination. Hopefully I'll get a chance to complete it tonight.

I can admit that I have the same strange behavior as you listening to the same song on repeat. However, nowadays Daz turns it off before I can even learn the words!

Hi IronChefShellie: No worries! Look forward to reading your 7 facts! 🙂

Hi Stephcookie: Haha… fake Asian is right! We look it but can't speak it!!

Hi Maria: No worries! I look forward to reading your 7 facts too! Funny about the listening to songs on repeat… I thought I was the only one! 🙂
